HSE SunSmart Campaign

This year’s HSE SunSmart campaign officially launched on May 24th.

SunSmart is run by the HSE’s National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP), in collaboration with Healthy Ireland, and works to support people to reduce their risk of skin cancer by protecting their skin from the sun.

Whether you’re at home or abroad, you can protect your skin by following the SunSmart 5S rule: slip, slop, slap, seek and slide:

  • Slip on long loose clothing
  • Slop on the sunscreen
  • Slap on a wide-brimmed hat
  • Seek shade even when it’s cloudy
  • Slide on sunglasses

You can get more information on the campaign and how to stay sun smart here.

Our PD nurse specialists also put together some summer tips, as some people may notice a change in their Parkinson’s symptoms when temperatures increase. You can read these on our website here.

If you wish to discuss further with our nurses, please contact 1800 359 359 to arrange a call.
