Applications for research funding
The Parkinson’s Association of Ireland (PAI) is now accepting applications for the current round of the Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI)/Health Research Board (HRB) Joint Funding Scheme 2023/2024.
For this round, there will be no pre-application/ expression of interest phase. Applicants should complete the Full HRCI/HRB Application form available in the link below.
Closing date for submission of full applications: 3 November 2023 at 5pm

Budget and project duration: Up to €75,000 per project (projects with a lower budget are welcome and will be considered) for projects from 12 up to 36 months.
Research Priorities
For the current round, we are inviting applications that address the following topics:
- The impact of lifestyle factors on Parkinson’s Disease (PD) (e.g. sleep, diet, exercise etc.).
- The mental health aspects of PD and stigma.
- Parkinson’s treatments including medications.
- The role of gut bacteria.
These research priorities have been decided upon in consultation with PAI members and service users and reflect the priorities of participants who completed our research priorities survey in February 2023.
We encourage applications for all types of research.
